My Endo Story - Maddie Burton

My Endo Story - Maddie Burton

I was diagnosed with Endometriosis just over 6 years ago and I was so relieved to find out there was something actually wrong with me as the journey of understanding I had Endo was a long 15 years of no answers.

I had previously been diagnosed with PCOS and was in constant agony and pain to the point where work and just living a normal life was difficult. I went in for my first laparoscopy and they had said my body was riddled with Endometriosis including being embedded in my bowels which explained so much about how I had been feeling.

My surgeon/doctor explained to me post surgery that there was no cure for endo but I could be more aware of what I put in and on my body and thus began my low tox journey.

I changed over my toothpaste, deodorant, makeup to a lower tox alternative and when it came to change over my perfume the only thing I could find as a substitute were essential oils which is just not what I was after. I wanted to still smell beautiful when I went to spritz my go to scent for the day or a special occasion and I wanted perfume but without all the added nasties. So I began to make my own, when I thought this could be something that maybe more women than just me could want in their own lives, I decided to start my own fragrance company. I went looking for a manufacturer who understood my vision and went from there. Your Bliss began right as the big C hit and we launched with 5 scents. We now have 6 scents with more on the way and a home and body range that over 5,000 women have fallen head over heels with.

Endo is still such a big part of my journey that we always run campaigns where we give a percentage of sales to causes that help with research or visibility and awareness of the disease which of course I am so passionate about.

I am grateful for my endometriosis diagnosis because it helped me find something to put my energy and love toward that I might not ever have found if it wasn’t for that very first laparoscopy.
